An Actual Heartbreak

On her pale thin hand
There lay a ring of gold
And with this simple promise
He gave his heart to hold

She smiled with delight
One that reached from either shore
And with this tiny band
She questioned him no more

With their hate layed perished
One detail fell unseen
There was another girl
That lay behind the queen

This girl set full with hope
That the other love would fail
And with the other broken
Their own love would excel

But she saw with her own eyes
This dream would not come true
So with her heart a fury
She would give him something to rue

On to the balcony she stepped
With understanding in her soul
She wouldnt let pain stop her
Not till revenge was reached as whole

One step after another
She moved on and on
To see her final ever after
Where her heartbreak would be gone

She dared a single glance back
At the man who owned her heart
Who she'd given everything
Only to have it torn all apart

She saw a stranger instead
Give a naive girl a kiss
Not caring what he was doing
Or how much he would be missed

So with a mangled heart
She stared over the side
Sucked in a final breath
Then leaned on suicide
